Warlock Patrons

You have been noticed by the Magnate of Carnage, the murderous lord of the Carnival Assassin's Guild. He has decided to bestow a fragment of his power to you, granting you access to the subset of Void magic available to those who choose this bloody path. However, such power comes at a cost.

The Magnate of Carnage lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Spell Level Spells
1 Hunter's Mark, Inflict Wounds
2 Branding Smite, Heat Metal
3 Bestow Curse, Conjure Barrage
4 Locate Creature, Phantasmal Killer
5 Cloudkill, Conjure Volley

At 1st level, you gain the ability to mark a creature as your target. When you hit a creature using a weapon or spell attack, you can mark that creature until the end of your next turn. When a creature you have marked takes damage, you may spend this mark to increase the damage dealt by 1d8, with no action required to do so.

You may only have one creature marked with this feature at a time, and you cannot expend the mark with the same attack that applies it. When you reach 10th level in this class, the damage dealt when you spend your mark increases to 2d8.

At 6th level, you can channel the power of Carnage to greater effect. As a bonus action on your turn, you may choose to enter a state of Bloodlust for 1 minute, or until you are knocked unconscious. While in a state of Bloodlust, the extra damage dealt by your Relentless Killer feature is always the maximum possible roll.

Once you enter this state of Bloodlust, you may not do so again until you finish a long rest.

Beginning at 10th level, your magic makes it easier for attacks to land where they're most effective. When you spend your mark to deal damage to a creature, further attacks against that creature become critical hits on a roll of 19 or above. This benefit lasts until you mark a new creature, or until the start of your next turn.

At 14th level, you've become a master of inflicting grievous wounds, and assisting your allies in doing the same. When a creature you have marked is attacked, you may use your reaction to spend your mark before the attack is resolved. When you do so, roll 1d6. On a 4 or higher, the attack becomes a critical hit if it hits. If you roll a 4 or higher when the attack misses, it instead becomes a normal hit. In both cases, you may apply the damage granted by your Relentless Killer feature to the target.

You may use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all expended uses of this feature at the end of a long rest.

You have been made a member of the Presidium, organization responsible for the governance of Metropolis. While only the elite few have actual seats within Presidium, and thus have voting power within the Metropolitan government, all members serve the government faithfully and loyally due to the Oath of Office.

The Magnate of Leadership lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Spell Level Spells
1 Heroism, Guiding Bolt
2 Calm Emotions, Zone of Truth
3 Beacon of Hope, Sending
4 Aura of Purity, Mordenkainen's Private Sanctum
5 Rary's Telepathic Bond, Skill Empowerment

At 1st level, you gain the ability to issue Commandments to your allies. You have a pool of Commandment dice that you spend to fuel your Commandments, and the number of dice in this pool is equal to 1 + your warlock level. Your Commandment dice are d4s.

As a bonus action on your turn, you may issue a Commandment to one creature other than yourself within 60 feet that you can see, giving them a number of Commandment dice from your pool up half your proficiency bonus rounded down. Once until the beginning of your next turn, the creature can roll these dice to gain a benefit. You determine the benefit when you issue the Commandment, selecting from one of the following options:

  • The creature adds the total rolled to their next attack or damage roll
  • The creature adds the total rolled to their next ability check or saving throw
  • The creature gains temporary hit points equal to the total rolled
  • The creature's movement speed increases by a number of feet equal to 5 times the total rolled
  • The creature gains blindsight out to a number of feet equal to five times the total rolled

If the creature would benefit to a bonus to a roll, it can wait until after it rolls the d20 before deciding to use the Commandment die, but must decide before the DM says whether the roll succeeds or fails. Once the Commandment dice are rolled, they are lost. Your pool regains all expended uses upon completing a long rest.

At 6th level, you are able to better assist your allies. You gain the ability to use the Help action as a bonus action. Additionally, when you use the Help action to aid an ally in attacking a creature, the target of that attack can be within 30 feet of you, rather than within 5 feet of you.

Beginning at 10th level, you gain the ability to adapt your Commandments to changing situations. As a reaction when a creature rolls your Commandment dice, you may have the creature instead gain the benefits of a different Commandment than that chosen when you issued it.

You may use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

At 14th level, you gain access to Greater Commandments. When you issue a Commandment, you may spend an additional Commandment die from your pool to transform it into a Greater Commandment. A creature benefiting from a Greater Commandment gains an additional action on its turn. That action can be used only to take the Attack (one weapon attack only), Dash, Disengage, Hide, or Use an Object action.

You may invoke a Greater Commandment a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier, regaining all expended uses at the end of a long rest. The Commandment die spent to invoke a Greater Commandment counts against the number of Commandment die you may grant a creature in a single turn.
