Outpost 447 within New Mourne is attacked by a swarm of Shimmerskins. They are led by Jackson Curtis, a unique shimmerskin with a yellow glow who appears to have the ability to command the “normal” shimmerskins in his presence. The attack is repelled by the defenders, with Vaeril ver Viridian proving particularly instrumental. After several days and significant losses, the shimmerskins retreat.
It would later be learned that this attack was organized by Benjamin Greyford, in an attempt to acquire the Sword of Gebalam from his father-in-law, who was returning home to Is'Noal from New Mourne after acquiring the artifact.

The crew of the Dazzling Hatchet arrive at Ben's Manor in Is'Noal, in an attempt to uncover leads as to where he may be hiding. They are ambushed there by supplicants of Rampart and Stockade, who they are able to defeat. They intuit based on their attacks that Benjamin is hiding in Metropolis, and that he likely has some nature of support from the government there.
Following the failed ambush, Metropolis announces its intent to help Olivia Greyford take one of Gebalam's two thrones, citing her possession of the Sword of Gebalam as her right to rule. The crew of the Dazzling Hatchet convince the Aconian Free State and Mourne to oppose Metropolis, citing the shift in the balance of power that an alliance between Gebalam and Metropolis would cause.
Entemin 16, 1432
Metropolitan soldiers land on the shores of Gebalam, met by soldiers of that nation as well as the Aconian Free State and Mourne. They make little progress in the face of stiff resistance.
Entemin 16, 1432
Jackson Curtis once again appears in Firstport, and the crew of the Dazzling Hatchet moves to confront him. They face off against him and a new (if much smaller) batch of shimmerskin plague victims, defeating and capturing him. They learn too late that he was a distraction, while both Benjamin and Olivia have moved on separate objectives.
Olivia is attempting to assassinate the Duarch Welatthost of Gebalam, and the crew attempts to prevent her from doing so. They arrive too late and are forced to retreat in the face of significant opposition.

Mirana Fontaine is late to the meeting due to her active efforts to oppose Benjamin, and is not killed in the blast, though her airship is knocked out of the sky.
