====== Sanctuary Factory ====== The factory located within Sanctuary allows the wielder of the Sanctuary Key to create constructs at a rate that even modern factories would struggle to match, and using technology not well understood by the modern world. The factory must have raw resources delivered to it in order to operate, but it is otherwise fully automated. The Sanctuary Factory produces humanoid constructs that closely resemble draconic beings, particularly half-dragons. The process has two distinct parts: Creation and Awakening. ---- ===== Creation ===== The creation process involves the manufacturing of the physical body of a construct. By default, they are made of Iron, but additional materials (such as Mithril or Adamantium) can be included to create an alloy material for additional benefits. A gem is also implanted within each construct that will eventually become something similar to their brain. The quality of the materials used will determine the capabilities of the construct forged by the factory, with more expensive components resulting in a superior creation. ===== Awakening ===== The awakening process grants sapience to a construct, allowing it to act with a degree of autonomy. The final result of awakening is dependent on the gem used in their constructions, as well as the complexity of circuitry embedded into that gem. ---- ===== Costs ===== A construct created with the bare minimum resources has a single d12 hit die, a walking speed of 30, as well as an 8 for every ability score. Such a construct costs 50gp to produce: 30gp for the iron, 20gp for the control gem. These prices can be increased for superior results. ==== Construct Bodies ==== A construct's body determines what it's physically capable of, and greater investment into the body takes the form of specific components made of better or more unique materials. When building the body of a construct, there are two main categories to consider: the frame and the shell. The frame of the construct is similar to its skeleton, and determines its Strength and Dexterity ability scores. A construct with a heavy, durable frame may be quite strong while one with a lighter frame will be more nimble. Some materials used to improve one ability score will hamper the construct in other ways, so there is some give-and-take. The shell, meanwhile, is like the construct's skin. A thicker and more durable shell allows the construct to take greater amounts of damage before being destroyed. === Frame === The table below shows the cost of each frame, and the maximum Strength and Dexterity scores the frame allows for. This maximum score value represents the highest possible sum of the construct's Strength and Dexterity. This score is a maximum, but not the actual - a construct may have lower scores than its frame would allow. Each score cannot exceed 20. ^**Frame Cost**^**Max Score**^ | 10gp | 18 | | 50gp | 20 | | 100gp | 22 | | 500gp | 24 | | 1000gp | 26 | | 5000gp | 28 | | 10000gp | 30 | === Shell === The table below shows the cost of each shell, and the maximum hit dice and Constitution score the shell allows for. This score is a maximum, but not the actual - a construct may have lower Constitution or hit dice than its shell would allow. ^**Shell Cost**^**Max Constitution**^**Max Hit Dice**^ | 10gp | 08 | 2d12 | | 50gp | 10 | 5d12 | | 100gp | 12 | 8d12 | | 500gp | 14 | 11d12 | | 1000gp | 16 | 14d12 | | 5000gp | 18 | 17d12 | | 10000gp | 20 | 20d12 | ==== Control Gems ==== Control gems are the brains of the construct, and so the more money is invested into them the more capable the mental faculties of the construct. The more expensive a gem, the larger it is, and only gems of a certain quality can be used for this purpose. The circuitry within a control gem can be upgraded later, but only up to the maximum value allowed by that gem. This allows the keyholder to create a construct that does not reach its full potential immediately, but can later be improved. Control gems can be removed from a construct to allow a better gem to be implanted, but doing so is a destructive process - the circuitry in the control gem can be salvaged, but the gem itself cannot be and will be destroyed. The table below shows the cost of each gem, and the total mental ability score each gem allows for. This maximum score value represents the highest possible sum of the construct's Wisdom, Intelligence, and Charisma scores. This score is a maximum, but not the actual - a construct may have lower mental stats than its gem would allow. Each score cannot exceed 20. ^**Gem Cost**^**Max Score**^ | 10gp | 24 | | 50gp | 32 | | 100gp | 40 | | 500gp | 48 | | 1000gp | 54 | | 5000gp | 60 | ==== Ability Scores ==== Each point in an attribute above 8 also requires additional materials to be provided. These take the form of increasingly rare and/or sophisticated materials that are required for more advanced functionality, such as platinum or adamantium. The total cost for an ability score can be found in the table below. When upgrading the ability score and hit dice of an existing construct, you pay only the difference between the previous score and the new one. ^**Ability Score / Hit Die**^**Cost**^ | 8 | 0gp | | 9 | 300gp | | 10 | 400gp | | 11 | 900gp | | 12 | 1200gp | | 13 | 1500gp | | 14 | 2100gp | | 15 | 2700gp | | 16 | 3300gp | | 17 | 3900gp | | 18 | 4500gp | | 19 | 5400gp | | 20 | 6300gp | ---- ===== Add-Ons ===== Constructs can be modified with Add-Ons that modify them to grant unique abilities, per the table below. Only one add-on of any type can be present at a type. ^**Add-On**^**Type**^**Cost**^**Effect**^ | Cold-Iron Shell | Shell | 5000gp | Grants the construct Magic Resistance. | | Adamantine Shell | Shell | 5000gp | Grants the construct resistance to physical damage. | | Mithril Shell | Shell | 2500gp | Grants the construct +30 movement speed. | | Cold-Iron Frame | Frame | 250gp | Grants the construct Immutable Form. | | Adamantine Frame| Frame | 1000gp | Grants the construct immunity to critical hits. | | Mithril Frame| Frame | 1500gp | Grants the construct evasion. |
